Master Schedule Process and Time Line

First Step:  Curriculum and Course Review

When: October, November 2008

Every school should go through a process of reviewing the courses and curriculum offered at the site.  This can be an extensive process so be careful not to make your plan too big.

In order to have a solid master schedule, it is critical to look at what will be offered the following year.  Ask departments to submit requests.  You do not want any surprises later in the year.

Create a committee to look at concerns.  Decide what is possible for the following year. Make a short term plan for the immediate future (the following year) and, if necessary, create a long term plan.  You do not want to try and complete larger goals in a few months.

In summary,

Review curriculum and course
course codes, district curriculum table, course descriptions, course catalog.

Revisit current and past master schedule information.

Discuss possible changes with staff.

Share thoughts and decisions with school community.
